Why did I start this Podcast?
The idea behind the Podcast is to provide a behind-the-scenes type conversation on how players, coaches, agents, etc. became Overseas Athletes.
I'll speak to them about how the process started, what and who was involved, the details behind how they moved overseas and the lessons theyβve learned.
Over time I want it to be an educational resource for current and future young athletes who want to chase their dreams on a global stage ποΈ
I'm hoping that these interviews will help them along the way. It will also help guide them around important topics such as; agents, visas, contracts, currency management, banking & finance, nutrition, fitness, recovery, overall health, culture, language barriers and sponsorship, along with many other subjects.

Hello there,
I'm thrilled to share with you some exciting insights from our recent episode featuring Kerwin, a seasoned coach who's been nurturing young athletes in Australia for the past decade, and now is showing them what real-life football looks like in Europe.
π A sneak peek into this weekβs episode
The Spanish Adventure: Kerwin took a bold step to explore opportunities abroad for his players. His research led him to Spain, a country renowned for its robust football culture. Despite the pandemic, he managed to secure a partnership with an academy in the northeast of Spain, in Huesca, opening a new chapter for his players and himself.
A Season-long Commitment: The program required the players to commit to ten and a half months of rigorous training, including field sessions, gym workouts, video analysis, and position-specific group sessions. It was a unique experience that allowed the boys to live, train, and grow in a professional environment.
The Challenges and Rewards: Kerwin shared the responsibility of taking 17 kids to live and train in Europe. From managing homesickness to ensuring the boys adapted to the Spanish way of life, it was a journey filled with challenges and rewards. The boys formed strong bonds, supporting each other through the journey.
A Day in the Life: The boys' daily routine was a mix of football training, Spanish classes, video analysis sessions, and free time for personal activities. It was an intense schedule, but it emphasised the importance of balancing football and education.
Training with the Pros: Some of the young athletes had the opportunity to train with professional teams like AlavΓ©s, and Real Zaragoza. These experiences were invaluable in building their confidence and enhancing their skills.
This journey with Kerwin was an eye-opener, revealing the dedication, commitment, and passion required to nurture young athletes. I hope you find these insights as intriguing as I did. If you're curious to learn more, tune into the Overseas Athlete Podcast for the full conversation.

Currency Update from SportsFX
π¦πΊ The Australian dollar has strengthened against more currencies this week, even though recent data revealed that the country's unemployment rate in August was 3.7%, one of the highest levels since May last year.
On the positive side, Australia's economy performed better than anticipated in the second quarter. This growth was primarily driven by strong exports and substantial public investments.
Regarding monetary policy, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) kept interest rates unchanged for the third consecutive month during its September meeting, which aligns with expectations.
The RBA's reasoning is that although inflation in Australia remains somewhat high, it has likely reached its peak. Meanwhile, the economy is currently growing below its typical rate, and there are forecasts that unemployment will gradually increase.
πΊπΈ π Up 0.91% for the week against the USD, sitting at 0.6438 on Friday morning.
π¬π§ π Up 1.41% for the week against the GBP sitting at 0.5187 on Friday morning, reaching a 5-week high.
πͺπΊ π Up 1.50% for the week against the EUR, 0.6048 on Friday morning, reaching a 5-week high and back above 0.60c for the first time since Aug 2nd.
π³πΏ π Even, again and still within the $1.08 range which has been ongoing for 7 weeks now against the NZD, and mainly sideways movement. 1.0890 on Friday morning.
