Why did I start a Podcast?
The idea behind the Podcast is to provide a behind-the-scenes type conversation on how players, coaches, agents, etc became Overseas Athletes.
I'll speak to them about how the process started, what and who was involved, the details behind how they moved overseas and the lessons theyβve learned.
Over time I want it to be an educational resource for current and future young athletes who want to chase their dreams on a global stage ποΈ
I'm hoping that these interviews will help them along the way. It will also help guide them around important topics such as; agents, visas, contracts, currency management, banking & finance, nutrition, fitness, recovery, overall health, culture, language barriers and sponsorship, along with many other subjects.
β½οΈ ποΈ Episode 1 - Michael Glassock
In this first podcast episode, Michael, a professional football player, shares his journey from playing in the NPL in Sydney to now playing professionally in Malaysia.
He discusses the challenges he faced during the COVID-19 pandemic when he had to return from Hong Kong, a successful season with Sydney Olympic, and how he secured an opportunity to play in the Malaysian Super League.
Michael also talks about the adjustments he had to make in Malaysia, including adapting to the training, facilities, and language barrier. He emphasises the importance of mental health, nutrition, and perseverance in pursuing a career in professional football.
Michael finishes by sharing his ambitions to play in the A-League and potentially in Europe in the future.
