Great to have you join us here at the Overseas Athlete! I'm Gio Mellos, 24, born and raised in Sydney, Australia. I am a footballer and natural health advocate, on a mission to change lives for the better, one healthy decision at a time.

I always loved the game growing up. And, like many other young boys my age, I fantasised about making a career out of it. Starting in the lowest team at schoolboy level, through relentless practice and the hurdles jumped along the way, I am now at the semi-professional level and on the hunt for that first full-time contract. My career has so far taken me to several teams around Sydney, trials around Australia, and abroad to the United States and Canada.

Today, I'd like to share with you the lessons I took from my professional trial in the States, where I came so close to signing on that dotted line. Thank you so much for being here, and I hope this post resonates with you and drives you further along your own athletic journey. Let's get into it.
