I posted this via LinkedIn this week and had a very high engagement, so I thought I’d share!

I got my chance as a professional footballer by accident!

The coach of Gold Coast United at the time had come to watch a local game and watch another player whom they had just signed.

I was unaware of this but happened to have a terrific game for my local team, and he asked to meet afterwards, after some conversations, a few player movements and my 3-month contract in Canada coming to an end, the timing lined up and I signed as a professional footballer for my hometown club at the age of 29!

UNBELIEVABLE! 😍 ⚽

What no one else saw was the 6 months of 6 days/nights a week training I had done, a better diet, better sleep, better recovery and working on areas of my body and game I'd never been exposed to.

Even though it may feel a bit accident, I like to look at it like "preparation meets opportunity" I had been preparing for 6 months, not knowing if any opportunity would ever come, and then it did, even though I was unaware of it.

If you're still hoping that you'll find a way to a professional contract and live out a lifetime dream, then keep working, keep hustling and always be prepared, you never know who's watching!
